LCA data suppliers

Collection, treatment and quality documentation of Life Cycle Assessment data.
The purpose of this course is to support the development, implementation and maintenance of data collection systems within environmental product Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) and hence improve the quality and comparability of LCA data. The course follows the terminology of ISO-standards 14041, 14042, 14043, and 14048, and should be seen as a technical supplement to these standards.
The course has been produced in the context of the EU-project CASCADE (contract no. G7RTCT-2001-05045) by FEBE EcoLogic on the basis of the following guideline: Bo P. Weidema, Francesca Cappellaro, Raul Carlson, Philippa Notten, Ann-Christin Pålsson, Andreas Patyk, Emanuele Regalini, Francesco Sacchetto, Simona Scalbi: Procedural guideline for collection, treatment and quality documentation of LCA data. The outline for this guideline was originally produced by the CPM group (Carlson & Pålsson 2001).

Docenti:
Francesca Cappellaro

Obiettivo formativo:
The course is composed of seven main Sections:
1- Establishing data collection systems
2- Collecting individual data values
3- Forming a probability distribution
4- Describing a process
5- Aggregating models of processes
6- Describing environmental mechanism
7- Describing a value system
Each individual Section is sub-divided into lessons covering:
description of definitions and the actions to be taken,
procedures for documentation of these actions, validation procedures and communication issues.
The course does not cover the more practical aspects of data collection, such as how to design data collection protocols, how to train data collection personnel, or the psychological aspects of how to address data suppliers most efficiently.

Contenuti:
The course is composed by 9 modules for a total of 36 lessons

A chi è rivolto:
The target group is managers of LCA databases and data collection systems, as well as the experienced LCA data collector. The course provides technical guidance and recommendations for the procedures to be used for data collection and data treatment, and includes minimum requirements for data quality documentation. This is supplemented by a procedure for certification of data according to the guideline
